Ashley Wiggins, our newest addition to the SSPP faculty, was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina and spent her life boating and crabbing on the Ashley River for which she was named.. She attended Clemson University dancing as a “Rally Cat” at all of Clemson’s football games and in her spare time, she nailed a degree in Elementary Education. She taught 2nd Grade for three years but it just wasn’t enough as she missed her “Rally Cat” days in the spotlight. She moved the California in 2009 to pursue her career in dance but once again ended up in the classroom where she taught Kindergarten, 1st Grade and 2nd Grade while nailing her second degree….. Master's in Digital Technologies. She spends her weekends destressing at Zumba where she met her DWTS partner, Randal, “The King” of North Beach and realized that they both have a Southern connection. Having grown up in the South, just like Elvis, Ashley plans to show Randal some Southern Charm on the dance floor.
Randal DeMartini was born in San Francisco and lived his entire childhood in the greatest district in the world, North Beach. He attended Saints Peter & Paul School and Sacred Heart High School. After high school, he joined the Salesian Boys' Club as an assistant director and has been there ever since. Thirty-six years later (I know that may come as a "shock" to some of you), he is still working with the youth of the Bay Area at the Club, mentoring, teaching, raising and loving every child he encounters. It was during his early age, while being taught about St. John Bosco at SSPP, that he was introduced to his musical idol, Elvis Presley. Not only does he blame the Salesian sisters for this introduction, but he is indebted to them for life. It was the Sisters who played the reel to reel movie of "Spinout" back in 1967 that appealed to him. Need I say, the rest is history! Not known for his footloose and fancy free dancing, he is hoping that his dance partner, Ashley Wiggins, will lead him in the right direction. He is excited for the challenge and hopes to help raise money for SSPP.
Dana Wayne (Choreographer)
Returning for our second season, Dana was born and raised in San Francisco. She trained with the San Francisco Ballet and performed in many roles for the Nutcracker. She taught dance at Mercy SF High School, Hillsdale High School, and trained the San Francisco Gymnastics competitive girls’ team for many years. She is the Director of the Afterschool Dance Program at Sts. Peter and Paul School and St. Vincent de Paul School. Dana will be coaching the second grade teacher, Ashley Wiggins, and the new Executive Director of the SBGC, Randal DeMartini. Dana does realize that it will be difficult to compete with last year’s wow factor, but she is confident that Randal and Ashley will dominate the stage and walk away with the SSPP 2016 “Dancing with the Stars” mirror ball.
