Roberto and Shirleen Balistreri
Shirleen made a name for herself within the dance community at an early age by being the youngest Lead Dancer in Broadway’s theatrical show, “Riverdance.” She spent 7 years performing around the world, and only after an unfortunate accident (Michael Flatley lost his spacing and stepped on her foot, crushing her 5th metatarsal), was forced into retirement. Roberto, not to be outdone, was the founder of the dance troupe, “North Beach Stomps,” a competitive Step Dance Team consisting of children ages 6-11. His passion for dance quickly evolved into a love of performance music. An original “One Man Band,” his fanaticism as a drummer took him to the marching bands of college football. Many have said that Roberto was the inspiration for the movie “Drumline.”
Roberto and Shirleen are both San Francisco Natives. They stay busy raising their two boys and training for an upcoming season of “The Amazing Race”… in case they are ever picked.
